Noalda sp 2 (undescribed)
In Indo-Pacific Nudibranchs and Sea Slugs we refer to this undescribed species as Noalda sp. 2. This little devil epitomizes the size of many of the species we were dealing with at this summer's Nudibranch Workshop, at the Villa Markisa Resort, in Bali, Indonesia. We are talking under 2 mm (that's less than an 1/8 of an inch). It is amazing that our host, Christiane Waldrich, can find these little gems. We can see the shell through an opening in the posterior body shield. One to two lines are seen on the internal shell. The "tails" are long and tapering. Kevin's excellent photo shows the detail of the mantle and head morphology. This observation adds to our geographical information, adding Bali to Papua New Guinea. If you'd like to join us on future Nudibranch Workshops, please check out next year's live-aboard workshops - 10 days in Komodo and 10 days in Alor/Flores. Hope you can join us. We'll be finding lots of these new guys there. here to download a*.pdf file of 2011 workshops!
