Chromodoris sp. 7 (NSSI 2nd ed, page 137)

Back in 1998 Terry Gosliner and I described several new species of Chromodoris. C. dianae was one of those named and dedicated to my ex-wife, Diana. The description was based on several color variations.

Since that time genetic analysis has suggested that one of the variants, C. sp. 7, was different and should be separated from C. dianae. So, it has been, done, divorced.

Chromodoris sp. 7 can be distinguished externally by the presence of yellow-orange spots along the edge of the mantle, lacking in C. dianae. Otherwise, the colors are similar.

My Ex-lives in Arizona, while Chromodoris sp. 7 still lives in the Philippines.
